Establishing Routines

I created a Behavioral Thermometer for my Elementary Placement at Westwood Elementary and Miller African-Centered Academy.  The students were accustomed to recieving a treat if they were well behaved during a class but the students had no way of tracking their own progress.  With the thermometer, students were able to work as a team to achieve their treat based upon their behavior as a class.  Each day, the class would start at the middle face.  The grade number would move up the thermometer for good behavior, such as talking quietly, working well together, or helping clean up.  The grade number would move down for disrespectful behavior such as calling out, not following directions, or mean comments directed towards classmates.
